Péter Benczúr is currently a research officer at the European Commisson's Joint Research Center in Ispra; Scientific Support to Financial Analysis Unit. He is also affiliated with Central European University, and a research associate of the Institute of Economics, Centre for Economic and Regional Studies, Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Before, he was also at the Research Department of Hungarian National Bank.

His research interests are in international macroeconomics and empirical public finance. His current research focuses on the determinants of sovereign risk, financial frictions, international business cycles, and empirical analysis of the behavioral response of individuals to tax reforms.
Péter Benczúr received his Ph.D. from the Massachussetts Institute of Technology in 2001. He also holds an M.A. in Mathematics from Eötvös Loránd University Budapest (1995).
